Skin Deep #2 - Charcoal and Chalk Pastel
The second piece in this series, I continue to be in love with her natural beauty. This series was created with the intent of analyzing whether beauty is indeed subjective. I selected images of women from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and purposely replaced their skin tone with the natural color of the tanned paper. I then made their hair color and eyes the same color, which creates a sense of unity across the series. The answers to the questions in regards to beauty are up to the viewer as the goal is to force you to see her for her naturalness as opposed to her skin color.
